Reducing Recruiting and Training Costs
[ Standardizing Staff Training ]
With over 175 staff spanning 26 states, Autism Services North (ASN) is one of the largest TRICARE providers in the United States.
Paul Eschbach, President of Autism Services North, opened up about specific challenges facing his agency.
The two biggest issues:
- Standardizing training across locations
- Ensuring new hires complete required training
[ The Situation ]
To help standardize staff training across 26 locations, the management team provided new employees with a comprehensive training package through PowerPoint slides and self-checks. Paul was confident in the quality of the material but noted that the presentation was "boring".
Unfortunately, "boring" was having a negative impact on his bottom line.
Sixty-five percent (65%) of new employees never completed the required training on-time and 25% never finished the training at all, causing ASN to:
- Terminate employees during the training process
- Lose money on paid employee training
- Double the recruiting expense for a single position
- Delay start dates for critical cases
[ The Solution ]
Paul piloted the Autism Training Solutions New Employee Plan for several months to find out if it would actually alleviate the agency's training burdens.
After three months on the ATS system, ASN realized marked improvements.
"Forget about it," Paul said, referring to his previous PowerPoint training.
"With ATS, we are able to get better rates on our tutors because they actually
finish the training and finish it early."
When using ATS, 80% of new employees finished training on-time and only 5% failed to complete the required training.

[ The Future ]
Autism Services North continues to embrace ATS' online staff training. Not only is it helping the agency save money. It is improving tutor outcomes and better supporting the firm's BCBAs, whom can use the ATS system to automate new employee training supervision and access free BCBA-approved Type II CEUs.
[ Benefits ]
- Attained better rates for tutors
- Reduces recruiting costs
